Mindful movement and breath are for everyone! You are not too sick, too thick, too old, or too stressed. In fact, yoga-based movement will serve your body and mind, whatever their state.
You might be put off because in some yoga classes, the students are straining to get into the most intense version of a pose, what some instructors call its "full expression."
Not here.
Here, we will work toward greater strength, endurance, flexibility, and physical balance and alignment. Here, the full expression of a pose is the form that allows you to observe your body, your breathing, and your thoughts; that helps you to show your body compassion and gratitude; and that challenges you without strain.
Shriya Yoga is a collective of independent yoga teachers who provide yoga, mindfulness, and mindful movement and breath coaching and classes in person in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and online throughout the country.
We believe that all bodies, regardless of shape, size, color, or age, can benefit from physical, breathing, and mental disciplines that have their origins in the ancient thought of the Indian subcontinent and that we have adapted for contemporary living.
Finally, we take yoga and wellness very seriously, but we believe that a sense of joy and fun should be at the heart of all wellness practices. Be sure to smile!
